History

IKANED (Indonesian Netherlands Alumni Organization) is a non profit organization for and by all Indonesian (included family members) who lived, studied or engaged in academic research in the Netherlands.

Operating on a non-profit and partnership basis, IKANED acts as a platform to improve the communication between alumni and their host institutions also serves as a matchmaker to facilitate the business communities for talent scouting and recruitment among the highly trained alumni. The network also aims to serve as a platform to provide their communication and empowerment and to promote their social and professional interests, and thereby ultimately improve Indonesia-Dutch relations.

Since it’s establishment in 1986, more than 5,000 alumni have already registered as IKANED members representing most of higher education institutions in the Netherlands. Currently IKANED officially has four branches in Surabaya, Jogjakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Makassar. With the continuous development and enhancement, IKANED is increasingly recognized by universities, students, governments and other organizations as an essential alumni organization in Indonesia. Many Indonesian nationals who are Netherlands alumni hold senior positions in both the country’s private and public sectors. The establishment of this network increases the opportunities of alumni to contribute Indonesian-Dutch in general and to their educational or expertise-related areas in particular.
