On 16 and 17 November Nuffic organised a training and networking event for alumni officers from Dutch higher education institutions, board members and Neso Alumni Officers from more than twenty alumni associations around the world.
The training programme was designed to support alumni officers in strengthening their international alumni network and to provide a platform for networking and sharing experiences.
Programme
The participants enjoyed an intensive two-day training, including interactive sessions with peers and representatives of alumni associations.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It addressed a variety of subjects such as fundraising, maintaining an international alumni database, career programmes and volunteer management.
Networking
Next to the training sessions, the programme had an important focus on networking with colleagues from European institutions and alumni associations. Roundtables, speed dating and a lunch walk gave the participants a good opportunity to share experiences and best practices and to develop new ideas on joint initiatives.
Outcomes
The results of the first evaluation were very positive. Most participants said they would return to their work with practical tools and tips in their pockets and, most importantly, new contacts to strengthen their international alumni network.
Nuffic will make some of the training sessions available online for alumni associations and institutions that were unable to join the training this time.
